This Week

Week 7 stays with Chinese production but looks at the economics of the country’s trade and the complex relationship between east and west. The reading, Poorly Made in China, gives a somewhat jaded view of the realities of having things manufactured in China and the impact of the desire for profit.
Lecture: China and The Global Economy
In this lecture we’ll look at how China has gone from a country wracked by poverty to one which “owns” much of the western world’s debt. How is China linked to our economies?
The documentary Joined at the Hip traces the link between our desire for cheap goods and rising unemployment back home.
